Villages and schools are found throughout the Zimbabwean countryside. Each of these centers of population need a clean water source. Many of the wells that have been drilled in the distant past are still operational, but the pump hardware is usually in bad shape. Often Karanda is contacted by local villages to assist them with the repair of their pumps.
Kumdate is a village about 8 miles from Karanda. Each month our hospital vehicle travels to a small shop in that community to immunize children. This community had a good water source, but their hardware wore out. Some fell to the bottom of their well, where it got stuck. All of our efforts to remove that equipment failed. Their well lost a significant amount of useful depth, rendering it "dry" for much of the year.
We would like to drill a new well. It will cost about $3000. We need help with this project. Contact me, if you would like to assist. See our Contact information page.
Thanks so much for your help and for praying for us as we interface with the community surrounding Karanda.
